You’ve probably already heard the recent good news regarding Meal Entertainment, but we want to make sure that the word is well and truly out about this exciting change.
The closure of restaurants nationwide due to COVID-19 had meant that our customers were unable to benefit from their Meal Entertainment benefit, as traditionally it does not allow takeaway or home delivery.
Luckily, the ATO found a workaround to ensure that everyone could still benefit, allowing some takeaway and home-delivered meals for our Meal Entertainment customers.
Things to know about the update:
1. The change will be in effect for this FBT year only, 1 April 2020 – 31 March 2021.
2. It is important to note that this does not change the places at which the Meal Entertainment Wallet card can be used. The new provisions will allow takeaway and home-delivered meals to be purchased from restaurants that would normally accept your Meal Entertainment Wallet card, if you were able to dine in.
3. This includes some meals ordered through delivery platforms such as Deliveroo, Menulog and Uber Eats, where they deliver for the permitted restaurants.
4. Simply use your Maxxia Wallet card when paying.
Some frequently asked questions
How does it work?
Your Maxxia Wallet can now be used for takeaway/delivery provided the supplier was an allowable Meal Entertainment supplier as of 1 March 2020.
Can I use my Meal Entertainment Wallet card with delivery services?
Yes. This includes some meals ordered through delivery platforms such as Deliveroo, Menulog and Uber Eats, where they deliver for the permitted restaurants.
I have used my Meal Entertainment Wallet card to purchase takeaway using UberEats previously, but it has declined, or the transaction was taken from my Living Expenses benefit. What has changed?
In line with the recent announcement by the ATO we have enabled these delivery services to now be processed as Meal Entertainment transactions up until 31 March 2021.
